LECTURERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SCHEME |

The focus of the Lectureship development programme is to mobilize appropriate manpower to cope with the challenges of inadequate manpower to man and reposition the ivory tower to offer the twenty first century kind of functional education needed to project our development to an enviable status in the comity of nations. This scheme seeks to admit a total of 10,000 scholars in the next five years and would build requisite capacity to meet the challenges of the twenty first century high capacity, conventional and distance learning tertiary institution. Invariably, we shall create employment for this large number of people and equally train them within this period. |

ELIGIBILITY

| The applicants for this scheme shall be University graduates from all available disciplines in the university system with minimum grade of second class lower division only and should be within the ages of 20-30 years. Hence, all university graduates with first class and second class upper division will be automatically qualified to enroll for this scheme. The disciplines include but not limited to the Faculties of Law, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Sciences, Medical Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Pharmacy and Agriculture. However, applicants with higher degrees will not be eligible to enroll for this scheme. |

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS |

Applicants for the trainee LECTURERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SCHEME must possess Computer literacy, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills combined with integrity, character and commitment to excel. |

METHOD OF APPLICATION |
| |
Applicant Account creation: All the persons interested in this programme would be expected to register on this website to create and profile an APPLICANT ACCOUNT free of charge. A registration number would be made available to the applicant, but would not be able to access the on-line form to submit his resume. |

Applicant Account activation: The on-line form is part of the paid content resources on the site, which is made available only after the payment of the prescribed fee of N2000.00 on-line using the ATM card or at designated Banks. Thereafter, a notification of payment should be sent in to activate the account. This will give access to the on-line application form which should be properly filled on the website with the passport photograph dully attached. Thereafter, the applicant would attempt the on-line quiz of 50 general knowledge questions of 30 minutes duration on the website. |

METHOD OF SELECTION |
| |
The selection of participants for this scheme shall be based on the quiz performance, the adequacy of information on the application form and performance in the selection test and interview. The selection test and interview shall take place in all the States of the Federation. The time and date for the selection process shall be announced on the website notice board. |

DESCRIPTION OF THE SCHEME |
| |
The lectureship development scheme seeks to enroll prospective lecturers in batches of 2,000 annually for the first five years. The first batch of enrolment shall be expected to secure admission in any of the first and second generation universities in Nigeria and pursue a Master’s degree programme within the year of selection before the appointment can take effect. The same requirements shall apply to all subsequent enrolments for this programme. It is expected that at the end of any Master’s degree programme, all the beneficiaries shall be expected to start the PhD degree programme without further delay to build sufficient manpower to cope with the manpower requirements of the proposed high capacity, world class University facility. Therefore, any participant that fails to secure the minimum grade point for a PhD programme shall be dropped from the scheme. However, the PhD degree programme can be undertaken in any part of the world from recognized universities only. Nevertheless, if it becomes necessary to modify this programme, it shall be in such a way to conduct some of the post graduate degree programmes in-house by the University of Excellence itself. |

| REMUNERATION |
| |
The remuneration applicable to the beneficiaries of the programme on the completion of the PhD degree shall be second to none within the academic environment in the country. However, the scale of remuneration during the training programme shall take account of years of experience at the point of entry as spelt out below: |

LD I: 7 -10 years experience: N1.30m-N1.80m par annum |

LD II: 4 - 6 years experience: N0.90m-N1.20m par annum |
|
LD III: 0 - 3 years experience: N0.50m-N0.84m par annum |
|

Importantly, all the beneficiaries of this scheme will be attached to the companies within the conglomerate to fine-tune their entrepreneurial and business focus which will be largely relevant in the teaching of various subjects and courses in the University. Above all, the participants would be expected to strive assiduously to achieve the targets that shall be set from time to time by the management. |

| COMMENCEMENT OF SCHEME |
